Hi,

How do I remove the (what I believe is) the column function formatting in a spreadsheet. Every time I build a formula the cell reference reads (for example) - =[@Column1415]. I just want it remove this formatting and for it to be the actual cell reference.

Any help on how to do this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
You have an Excel table. If you use point and click or the arrow keys to select cells in your formulas, it will use the table notation.

To avoid this, you have to type in the cell references—don't use the mouse or the arrow keys.

Do the following only on a copy of your worksheet. You may not like the result:
You could convert the table to a range. Look in the Table Tools >> Design menu items. If you convert the table to a range, all the formulas will be converted to A1 notation. New formulas will not propagate up and down the column, they will restrict themselves to the single cell.

Thanks for this. However, this is not ideal. Can I not remove the excel table completely?

Actually, I have worked it out. If you right click on the table I can convert it back to a range.

Thank you for your help!
