The STOCKHISTORY function returns dollar values even when I set the number format to General. I even copy-and-paste-special just the "Values" into another cell and I still get the dollar signs. How do I get rid of them?
I am not sure you are going to like this.
If you put =TYPE(CellRef) to a stock history figure you will get 128.
This is not being recognised as a numeric data type and is not reflecting formatting changes.
A numeric data type returns "1" as the TYPE result.
To get it converted to a number either of these worked for me:
