How diffrent is VBA from Visual basic

I was wondering, how diffrent are the 2 languages, and if I was to start learning VB how do I get a compiler ?

the two are very similar

from my understanding, the main difference is that vba lacks "object inheritance", which is an advanced feature

microsoft has a free download available

VBA and VB6 are very similar, the current version of VB (VB.net) is quite different - amongst other things, everything is an object.
