Hello,

I am new to this Mr. Excel website.

I have a question in regards to a formula I am trying to make. I will give you a description of the spread sheet and explane what I want to achieve.

I have a spread sheet with many columns A-AA. Column (L) is <start date> (M) is finish date (Q) is date due to the customer (R) is how many days late we will be to the customer.

I would like to create a formula that will give me the estimated finished date ( in date form ) as to when the "work" will be finished based on (Q) + (R)

Any help would be appreciated. The end goal for me is to find out the % of on time delivery based on (Q) + (R)

Regards,

Mat

If Q is truly a date, and R is a number, then you can simply add the two, i.e.
=Q1 + R1
and format the result in a Date format to get what you want.

You are welcome!

The reason why it works is because Excel tracks dates as numbers, specifically, the number of days since 1/1/1900 (if you enter any date, and switch to General format, you will see the date as Excel sees it). So it is just a matter of adding the numbers and formatting as a date.

As you might have guessed, any time components are stored as fractions (of a day), i.e. 12:00 Noon would be 0.5.
