For example, I select columns A and B and group them. Now I want to group C and D, but when I select them and group, Excel 2007 groups A to D as one large group.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
I don't use this feature at all but I just tried this:-
  1. Group columns A & B
  2. Click the wee minus clicky
  3. Group columns C & D
Is that it?

Failing that:-
  1. Insert a new column C
  2. Group columns A & B
  3. Group columns D & E
  4. Delete the new column C
That seems too kludgy to be intended as the correct way to do it though...

Thanks Ruddles. First method doesn't work. I guess Excel needs to be able to show the little plus sign when the group is hidden so it must go into the adjacent open cell, which therefore can't have it's own independent grouping.

I'll do the extra column insert thing.
