Hi, please forgive me if this question has been asked but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this.

I have a list of work hours that our timekeeping system posts in decimals and fractions of hours. For example, if someone worked 5 hours and 45 minutes, the system writes it as 5.75 instead of 5:45. For the analysis I am doing, I want to calculate the difference between actual hours worked and what the system says because there are significant discrepancies (and yes, I know if the answer is negative, all I will see is ###### as a result). How can I easily convert these decimal numbers (i.e. X.XX) to a time format (i.e. hours:minutes)?

Many thanks for your help! :)

Hi, in Excel times are stored as a fraction of a day. So to convert your decimal hours to an Excel time value, simply divide by the number of hours in a day (24) and format the cell that holds the formula as time.
