Hi.

Please consider the attached image.
The horizontal axis labels are showing as numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) instead of labels:

East Coast

Midwest

West Coast

Rocky Mountains

International

My Axis Label range is pointing at: ='Sales Performance'!$Z$25:$Z$29

(which are the black cells holding the regions to display).

Why is Excel interpreting these labels as numbers on the chart?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Can you post the spreadsheet or email it? It's just a matter of switching around the ranges if you know how they look.

Thank you for your offer, but I'm afraid I can't share the file, as it is of a client.
What do you mean "switching around the ranges if you know how they look"?
I tried re-setting the axis range, forcing "text labels" in the axis properties...
Pointing to these cells via a formula (=Z25) returns the text as expected. It's only at this Chart it is showing wrong...

Thanks!

Whether a pivot chart or a chart of a pivot table be sure it isn't counting the row labels. To avoid posting confidential info you can show just a portion of the sheet replacing names with random characters and let the randbetween function choose different numbers. Only the structure is important.

Thanks, Sheetspread.

Pivot is not involved here.
Anyway, I got it resolved. Just copied the values (labels) to another range, pointed the chart to the new range - and it picked up the labels.
Re-pointed the chart back to the original table - anw now it picks up the labels correctly.
Kinda fixed itself...

Thanks!
