So I opened my mouth before I actually thought about it and agreed to write a "quick" bit of code for my group to use at work. I haven't really written any code for anything in close to 25 years, since college excel class oh so long ago...
The Problem
given a spreadsheet with hundreds of rows of data, I need to find each row where the 'Product Name' column contains, lets say ("New Item").( the problem is that ("New Item") isn't consistently placed on the left or right of the string, only that it is always ("New Item"), select each row , copy it and paste it into another sheet.
Stretch goal: After achieving the top bit, i wanted to alter it so that the macro could be run from one workbook, gathering the data from the source workbook via its home on the shared drive, and pasting it into a sheet in the user's workbook is this beyond a simple extra bit of code?
I can pretty much do what i need with the Find All in excel then copy all the results; i tried to use the macro recorder while doing this but for some reason the recorder doesn't record this portion. any help with the recorder or the code snip I'm thinking of would be of immense help.
I have a feeling this has already been covered somewhere since it seems as if this really shouldn't be too uncommon a task, I've tried searching but its tough knowing what I'm looking for.
