I am trying to perform a simple HLOOKUP formula, using the date (mmm-yy) as the identifying factor. The main data table has dates as text, and the lookup table is using a EDATE formula because I am showing a rolling 12 month table. When I run the formula it returns a #N/A, which I assume is due to one date being text and the other a formula. What is the trick to get this to work?

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
You could try converting the date to text by using HLOOKUP(TEXT(your date,"mmm-yy")...

Thanks for the reply. I actually tried that but it did not work, still got the #N/A. I just assumed it was because it was still comparing one cell with the date typed in (text) and the other cell with a date via formula. It could also be that I did not set up the formula correctly, who knows. Seems like this would have a simple fix. Let me know if seeing the file would help.

If you can attach a sample using XL2BB so that we can see what you're working with then it will make it easier for us to see where it is going wrong.
