Is it possible to hide cells with a password?

For context, I have a file that will be used by many different users.

But certain information should only be available to specific users.

So let's say, for example, that I had a spreadsheet with a list of employee salaries (this isn't actual example) and I wanted to send the file out to a group of employees who would need their own personal password in order to access the salary information relevant to them.

Is that actually possible?

I note that you can lock and hide formulas (right click / format cells / protection).

But is there a way to hide the actual content from all users, except those with the password for the relevent cell (s)?

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
you might be better considering using a sheet for each employee, or whatever you are trying to hide, rather than a cell or row...that way the sheet can be VERY hidden to all but the required user !

That's a good suggestion, but there are over 200 instances, which would create a lot of sheets!

And I need to keep the data in one column but only allow users to see data that's relevant to them....

Any other ideas?

well you problem with hiding rows for valuable information, is that if a user turns macros off, the rows will again be visible.
