Hello,
Having an issue with these features sporadically not working. I can work around by searching in the "Tell me what you want to do field," but that is pretty cumbersome. Any advice? TIA!

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Welcome to the Forum!

Can you please provide a little more information. It's not clear whether something is not working, or whether you need advice to make it work the way you want it to.

- What are you hiding/unhiding, and how are you doing it?
- What does "not working" mean?
- How does the "Tell me what you want to do" textbox help?
- What does "work around" mean?

Hello, and thank you for your response!

- I am hiding/unhiding columns.
- Sometimes highlighting across that top and right clicking brings up the hide/unhide options, but sometimes it does not.
- When I enter "unhide" in the "Tell me what you want to do" textbox (having the columns highlighted,) it will offer "unhide columns" which I can click on.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks. So just to be clear ...

If I select column D (say) by clicking on the "D" column header, I get these options on right click:

You're saying that you do the same, and sometimes don't see the Hide/Unhide options? At those times, what do you see as the options on right click?

Do the hide/unhide options not appear at all? Or are they greyed out?

Have you seen any pattern in this behaviour, e.g. does it happen with some worksheets/workbooks and not others?

Can we assume you have no VBA code or add-ins running?

I apologize; I have been able to hide one column at a time, but not multiple. If I highlight multiple and right click, the hide/unhide show up, but the only highlighted column becomes the one my cursor is in (or the column to the far left or right of the span originally highlighted).

I am seeing this only in one document. Everyone working in it is having the same issue.

I don't believe there are VBA codes or add-ins running, but I also don't know what those are.

OK, that's helpful, thanks.

Let's say you select columns D-F, and right click. I think you're saying that:

- You see the Hide option
- If you click it, the columns do not hide?
- The column selection changes to just one column. Is this D? Or F? or something else?

Does this happen on all the sheets in this one workbook?

And what's the workbook type, e.g. is it .XLSX, .XLS, .XLSM, .XLSB?

Yes, that is exactly what happens.

It is only happening with one sheet in the book.

Working in .xlxs

I feel like we're getting closer!

Yes, closer, but I'm struggling to think of the likely cause.

Are you able to save a copy of the workbook, with just that one sheet? Make sure you remove any personal/sensitive information, and check that the hide/unhide problem persists in the cut-down version.

If you can upload this to a drop box, and post the link here, and tell us which columns you're trying to hide, we can take a look.

I don't have any merged cells.

Unfortunately, this is a work document and I am unable to share it.

I truly appreciate your help, even if we don't find a solution.
