I opened a memory stick on a XP system does evcel store any of the data anywhere ofter the memory stick is removed, files where saved back to the memory stick at that time

You opened an Excel file which was on a memory stick then removed the memory stick without saving the file back to it, and you'd like to know whether Excel saved your work somewhere else - maybe on your hard disk - where you can recover it and write it back to the memory stick.

In a way yes, as interested in if it creates hidden files in windows somewhere. But in this case not to recover but to view them without the stick in place
ie If I work on the files, save, then remove the stick. Is there any writing of the worked on files to the excel/windows where it can be recovered by any software or expert
I know that windows like to write files all over the place just wounded about excel
