Help with making two DATE cells equal

Need help with making two date cells equal.
First cell is the date
Second cell is a formula

How do I make the formula to be equal to the date such that I could do a vlookup off of it

This could be.
08/31/2019 =EOMONTH(TODAY(),-2)

But, this is different
08/31/2019 =TEXT(EOMONTH(TODAY(),-2),"mm/dd/aaaa")


Why do you convert it to text?

That was the issue, thank you.

I was using the TEXT function to tidy up the final result but I also confused myself in the process
