Help with interface

Today I somehow manged to get a popup window to open that appears to format a particular chart. I have no idea how I opened it, nor how I can get it closed. It stays up on top of everything and anything...different sheets, different menus etc.

Can someone tell me A) how did I cause this to happen, and B) How do I make it go away? I can't seem to attach or otherwise insert a .jpg of the screen,

The popup has now gone away. I clicked the excel tab on the taskbar, and the popup disappeared. I suppose its lingering presence was some sort of bug and that it should have gone its merry way when the "apply" button is hit. I would still like to know how I managed to get it to pop up in the first place.
