New to the site!

I am hoping to get some help with a way to find mistakes in data entries. On my side I have a list of accounts and departments in Column A and Column B. For example, I am expecting account 4000 to be in departments 1000, 2000, 3000. Nothing else though.

On another tab I have the actuals that is being booked with account number and department in different columns. What I am hoping to do is find cases where entries are being made to accounts that should not be. Like in the above, if account 4000 was used in department 4000 which is should not be. In my case I have a lot of different accounts and departments I am looking for and trying to find when entries are made outside of the expected actuals.

Welcome to the Board!

In this case, it would be very helpful to see some sample data and your expected results.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.
