Not sure this is possible and if not any idea how I could work around it?

Basically I have around 1000 rows of information and in one of the columns I have numbers 0-100. What I want to do is format cells 0-9 one color, 10-19 another, etc... I tried to do a formula if >X then format, but it supersedes the prior formulas so at the end of the day everything is just one color.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Try:

=AND(condition 1,Condition 2)

in your example, replace condition 1 with: A1>=0

replace condition 2 with A1<=9

choose your custom format, and repeat for all your conditions!

Another option for your particular example is as follows, just using a single condition* for each section
The conditions need to end up in this order (they can be rearranged via Conditional Formatting -> Manage Rules) and each rule marked with the box 'Stop if True'.

I have only set up 3 of the rules but just continue the pattern.

* If there can be blank cells in the range that you don't want coloured, change the first rule only to =AND(E2<10,E2<>"")
