I never use Excel to create graphs/charts.

I was asked to do one today and I'm having an issue.

the data is weekly but the horizontal access should be monthly. It's showing the weeks which of course makes it look terrible. In fact the dates don't line up with the data.

Help!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Thank you. I don't show that option for calling out months when I choose, "format axis". I'll troubleshoot but thank you for the article. Very helpful.

In the screenshot below, there are weekly dates and corresponding data. I made a line chart, and Excel automatically made a date axis, with a spacing of seven days. Reasonable enough, but a monthly axis might look better.

Below, I've changed a few settings in the Format Axis task pane. I changed the major unit to 1 month. (I did not change the base unit to months the way that Microsoft article did, because it would plot all April points in a vertical line at April and all May points in another vertical line at May.) I also set the minimum to April 1 instead of 2 and the maximum to June 1 instead of May 28.
