help with calculating duration between two values

example:

Mon Oct 10 00:00:01 PDT 2016 and Mon Oct 10 00:00:42 PDT 2016

what is the formula to calculate the duration between these two values?

any help would be great

hi, thanks, i wish i found this forum earlier haha.

i'm sorry i wasn't clear. the first cell would have "Mon Oct 10 00:00:01 PDT 2016". the second cell would have "Mon Oct 10 00:00:42 PDT 2016".

these are columns of data, and the times can span anywhere between seconds to multiple days.

these values are generated by a report, and these times are the durations of backup iterations.

nvm, i was able to figure it out.

turns i just had to change the format, and literally just subtracted one from another.

just FYI for anyone else who runs into this issue.
