Help required using vlookup

Hi I am using a vlookup formula but instead of displaying the result say "ABB" I'd like to return "ABBREVIATION" instead?

Is it possible or do I need a different formula, index,match?

Try something like

=IF(your vlookup here="ABB","ABBREVIATION","")

How do I add that to this formula please?

=vlookup(L5,Sheet1!A1:AK95,5,FALSE)

There is appox 20 different results to alter?

Create a small table with the lookup results and what you want to alter them to, like below

[TD="width: 87"]ABBREVIATION[/TD]
[/TR]

[TD]DDDDDD[/TD]
[/TR]
[TR]
[TD][/TD]
[TD][/TD]
[/TR]
[TR]
[TD][/TD]
[TD][/TD]
[/TR]
</tbody>[/TABLE]

use
=VLOOKUP(vlookup(L5,Sheet1!A1:AK95,5,FALSE),$A$3:$B$5,2)

change the part in Red to reference your new table
