In column a I have monthly data. In cell b1 I have quarterly values being the sum of the first three months in col a. I wish to copy cell b1 to cell b2 such that I get the sum of the second quarter of monthly data, i.e the cells a4 to a6 and so on. I need the function to copy down in cell b1. Many thanks, mark

Can you give me more details? Because i assume just dragging down wont work for you? Can you give me the exact formula you want to be dragged?

Actually is not what tri to explain it's this. I col A I have numbers, lest say A1 to A20. Cell b1 =A1. When I copy B1 to B2 I want that cell to return the contents of cell A3. And then as copy down A6,A9,A12, so it and 3 rows each time.

Don't you mean A1, A4 then A7? A1 to A3 is two cells down.
