If you like puzzles, this is for you.

For my job, I need to send 1. A lot of personalized emails based on names from an excel spreadsheet. Normally this isn't so difficult via the mail merge option in Microsoft word, but I need to do two other things: 2. Add an (standard, unpersonalized PDF) attachment in the email and 3. Send this on behalf of the director of my research center.

I have two questions:
1. What is the general approach? Should I try to do this all in Microsfot Word? Should I do half of this maneuver in Outlook?
2. What code would you suggest? I work everyday with code in statistical programs, but I have never once worked with code in Microsoft Office so this is way, way over my head.

I know this quite a complex operation and might not be possible. But I'd appreciate any ideas you have!

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
For sending attachments, see: Merging With Attachments

As for sending emails on behalf of the director, a mailmerge can only send emails from your primary email account. So, if you want to send the emails on behalf of the director, you'll need to either: set his email account up as your primary account; or add text to the email message saying that it's "on behalf of the director".

Thanks, guys. I'm going to try to figure this out and get back to you in a day or two.
