The title says it all ... I have an idea how I would like it to work but have no clue how to start ....

I have a report sheet that contains the final data.
The export sheet is used to input data into that report sheet.
The user who will be responsible for collating the input data has very little experience in excel. So currenlty counts each unique value.

Each field within the report will contain a sum or count of values, based on certian criteria, e.g. month, area, type of work, trade etc ...

He needs to collate this data daily ...

I was thinking of creating a macro, that gives him the option to choose the various criteria to update for a specific day ... i.e. choose date, trade, area, type of work ... and report updates after selection is made ...

I am unfamiliar on how to create user forms that will need to contain formulas ...

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
you could try

=COUNTIF(B4:B11,"a") which just looks for cells that contain the "a" value or

=COUNTIF($B$4:$B$11,C4) which check for the value stored in C4

maye too simplistic, but somewhere to start
