Hi all,

Hope you are well and thank you in advance for taking your time to read my post.

Not sure if it is at all possible, i have a pivot table with slicers and would like to restrict the information end users can view based on a password I provide them. e.g. the pivot table will contain staff salary information of a number of teams and I only want the team manager to view salary information for his team only using a password i provide him/her. I know its possible to split the information into separate worksheets and only provide them with the data for their Teams, however, there are more than 50 Teams so will be very time consuming to do manually.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

All the best.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
With confidential data suggest you remove all possibility of access: if the users don't need the flexibility of the pivot table, will pdf copies suffice?

Thank you for your reply. i do require the flexibility as there are also regional managers who oversee a number of teams, i want them to be able to view all the teams they oversee or view on a team by team basis so a pivot would be best I believe.

Thanks

If only aggregated data is being viewed, then aggregate at as high a level as possible before making the pivot table - otherwise keeping the data confidential will likely be impossible. Passwords are of very limited value, btw.

Or staying with the pdf route, create pdf reports for all possibilities (hopefully a reasonable number & not excessive) & provide the managers with the ones they need.

Thank you for your suggestion, I knew my request would be a long shot. Probably best that I look for a different solution.

Different solution = good.

Splitting the data to many (the ~50 teams you mentioned) worksheets may be simple enough?
