I'm a self-taught Excel user and have no experience on formulas and am nearly innumerate so please be gentle with me ...

I'm sure there is a way to do this:

I need to calculate helicopter load timings. Say I have 30 passengers, I know I need 5 helicopter movements to transport them from point A to point B to point C. The first movement takes 12 minutes then there is a wait of 10 minutes and the second movement is 8 minutes.

That scenario will be repeated 4 times, but each departure time will be 5 minutes later to allow for unloading/loading passengers.

This 5-heli scenario will be repeated up to three times, depending on whether I have 90, 100, 140 pax, etc.

Currently I am adding the separate times onto each departure time but if there was a way to automate the process of time stepping I would save a lot of time and bad arithmetic.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
After a helicopter has reached Point C, does it have to return to point B and follow the same flight and waiting times or can it fly straight to point A, if so what would it's flight time be?

Sorry, I'm new to MrExcel... I didn't know how to post a .xls file here...

I PM'd to ask for an email address.

All I have is a rather bare starting framework that solves sortie requirements and clock times based on start time, flight leg durations and wait times considering how many helicopters and number of pax there are. I wanted to fly this by the OP in case I'm way off the mark.

Thanks GyroDave - it looks pretty amazing to me. I'll start working with it very soon as I have a complex run sheet of 17 loads to compile. Much appreciated!

Dimli, sometimes the helis go from Point C back to Point A but sometimes they go to different points altogether - it depends if the job is ex-base or if we are ferrying them to another departure point. Sometimes they all go to Point B and some go onwards to Point C while others ferry back and forth between A and B. This is a new job for me and I sort of enjoy it but the scope for stuffing up and under-quoting is scary.
