Today, I am told, is the 40th anniversary of the first transmition from one computer to another.

From About.com:

The first data exchange over this new network occurred between computers at UCLA and Stanford Research Institute. On their first attempt to log into Stanford's computer by typing "log win", UCLA researchers crashed their computer when they typed the letter 'g'.

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
I like the comment I saw that AT&T wanted no part of the whole thing -- they saw it as a waste of time.
And the original net grew to a whole 4 machines...
