Hi all - I want to connect with some people that have gone through what I am going through. I have been using Excel for two years, a little bit of Access, but I think our data volume is outgrowing Excel. We are looking in to some solutions. I was curious about how I move forward as a data analyst. I guess this is more of a career advice question.
Topics:
Excel
Access
SQL
Hadoop
VBA
API
Automated reporting
I want to speed up data collection, storage, reporting, etc. I have data on servers onsite, data on third party solutions, etc. The process has been to create a report then hand off to someone for data entry. I am currently building out a Word Press website to create a reporting structure to house reports that are manually created so report consumers can log in via their mobile device when they need to look at a report, etc.
I am not a programmer. I am not a mathematician. I do understand decisions makers, I work with chief level officers, the importance of data, which metrics to track, distribution, permission access to data, etc. I use some statistical analysis and I want to use even more. I normally move toward the leadership role when I am involved in projects and tasks. I would like to focus on analyzing data but I feel that not being able to store and collect data, lacking programming skills, I am limited as a data analyst.
What do I need to learn and use moving forward? I was hoping to connect with some people that have gone through this. Where you are now, etc. I sincerely appreciate your input. Have a great Friday!
