Group or Subtotal with Total on Top

Hi,

I'm trying to create a file with a kind of drill down option...

So, let's say on Row 4, I have the category and then from Row 5-10, I have the product and Row 11, I have the category and from Row 12-14, there is products...etc..etc...

I was wondering if there was a way to have use the Subtotal function to get the subtotal to appear on the row before the group starts? Because when I do it now, it puts it underneath....

Or if that is not possible, is it possible to group a bunch of rows and have the "+" on the row above? Currently, it defaults to placing it on the row below..

Am I making sense?

If anyone has any thoughts or can help me, I would really appreciate it.

Insert a pivot table of your data, it will put the subtotal above each group.

With Excel 2003, when you apply the SubTotal, you can unflag the option "Summary below data" (or whatever it's in english).
