I KNOW there's an easier way to do this.... Thanks in advance for looking!
Goal: I only want the sub-totals of each CATEGORY in the Income Statement as well as the Total Income.
I have an Income Statement I'm reviewing that's 220 lines long. There is currently NO grouping. Below is an example of the items in one category.
A B C
______________________________________
15 Contracts -Admin Temp Svc "A"
16 Contracts -Cleaning "B"
17 Contract -Maintenance "C"
18 Collection Expense "D"
19 Contracts -Porter "E"
20 Total: Outside Svcs & Contrcts TOTAL
Current strategy: I'm doing this the LONG way - I'm manually selecting rows (e.g. 15:19) and clicking "Group", row-by-row. I have 3 excel sheets of 3 P&L's that are each around 220 +/- rows long. This is a PITA but faster than me searching for a faster way.
Ideas:
1) If I can "Filter" the Names in Column "B" (see above) for all items that include the word "Total" and then Paste those items in another column, maybe I can do an IF formula (e.g. IF(Row B includes "Total"),(Value),,)) SOMETHING like this...
2) Would a Pivot Table do this faster???
Ughhh... I feel like such a noob.... Thanks for looking!
