Hi There

I know that page setup works well for greying out unused areas of the sheet but is there another way? :)

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
I wasn't aware you could 'grey out' areas of a worksheet through the Page Setup screen. Anyway.. you could hide all of the unused rows, which usually leaves a gray background. Otherwise, in the Format -> Cells dialog you can change all unused cells to have a gray (pattern) background.

Ok.

Can each of you tell me how to grey out unused areas of worksheet?

Thanks

After a few experiments worked out a way through "format cells "

. Highlight total sheet and then Format /cells/Pattern and select grey
Then highlight cells with entries and Format /cells/pattern/white
