Gradient Conditional formatting

I would like to create Conditional formatting based on the text in each cell. Let's say that each cell contains a list of color names and cell background color should be some sort of gradient between them.


Let's say cell A1 value is "blue, green"
I want its color to be like in the photo below.

Is it possible? How can I implement it?

I'm not sure on whether it can be done with traditional conditional formatting without making a rule based on every possible permutation but it could certainly be done with VBA.

In VBA it would be as simple as reading the cells, splitting the string in each cells, checking them against a list of colours and applying the formatting. It wouldn't be that hard to do.
