Hi everyone,

I'm at a loss as to how to prevent this.

I have column O which sums totals from columns D - M (i.e. =SUM(D23:M23))

My problem is that any time I add data in column N, which is NOT to be included within the sum in column O, Google Sheets automatically changes my formula to INCLUDE column N.
The formula automatically changes from =SUM(D23:M23) to =SUM(D23:N23) and then I have to manually change it back for every row that has data in column N.

Is there a way to stop it from doing this?

Thanks for any help given!
-Mike

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
I found the answer in the Google Sheets Help Center. Solving this issue is a simple as adding an absolute cell reference ($) to the formula.

=SUM(D23:$M23)

Thank you anyway, and hopefully this may help someone else down the road.
