I am looking for a good book with SQL explained from a ground up approach including not just programming syntax but how/why SQL works...the best I have found (so far) is Instant SQL by Celko and SQL for mere mortals by Hernandez -- I think the latter has more expansive examples but the former is richer (and denser). Does anyone have any other suggestions along these lines...

I am desirous of learning "pure" SQL theory along with "practical" programming how-to.

Thanks!
