Hi, Appreciate any help as I am not an Excel guru.
I have a sheet that I use, column C is called "date Stopped", column D is "Date Released" and Column E is "Number of days stopped". I currently use the formula =TODAY()-C1 etc... that calculates the number of days in Column E. I want a formula that will still do this but once I enter a date into into Column D, Column E will then stop counting.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Hi,

welcome to the forum. Its not quite clear why you use today() to calculate the number of days, as that will keep counting as you say.

But if you want to find the difference between date in Col C and date in Col D, you could use simply this:

Book1
ABCDE
1
201/05/202415/05/202414
3
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
E2E2=D2-C2

you need to manually enter dates in Col C and Col D of course ... any help ?

Hi Rob, thanks for your reply. I use the Today() formula in column E as it's a way of keeping track on how many days (sometimes this is many months).
Is there anyway I can still have the cell to count the number of days but as soon as I enter a date into column D it stops counting and works out how many days between the date in column C and the date in Column D?
