GETPIVOTDATA - Access Pivot Table in another workbook (on Shared Drive)

Hello All,

I am accessing a Pivot Table in another workbook located on the same Shared Drive.

With both workbooks initially closed, and the GETPIVOTDATA workbook then opened, generates #REF errors, until the workbook containing the referenced Pivot Table is also opened. Selecting Data/RefreshAll and Data/Edit Links/Update Values has not impact.

Is this normal - i.e. must the Pivot Table workbook be open also - or can a setting be selected to prevent the #REF errors?

I'm obviously missing a fundamental issue. Would appreciate any counsel.

Many thanks and kind regards,
David

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
GETPIVOTDATA does not work when the PivotTable workbook is closed. Simple as that.
