Get data out of old Basic program

We have an ancient Basic application that is running on DOS. It runs a propane company. It is starting to corrupt. I need to get the data out of the program and build an Access database. The data is in a flat .mst file. I have tried bring the data in with Excel, Access, and Word using the wizards. No luck. Any ideas? Thanks for your thoughts.

What specific problems are you having? Do you get an error message when trying to import the data and if so, what is the message? Is an mst file a text file?
