Get data from PowerBi dataset suddenly stopped working

Yesterday my ability to get data from powerBi datasets suddenly disappeared (replaced by a whirlygig). I can still access powerBi service, I can refresh excel reports created using get data from PBIdatasets, I can copy those connections into other workbooks, and I can still publish from desktop BI. But I cannot create new connections. I have rebooted several times and kicked the hardware etc. etc.

I originally started powerBi on a free account (about 3 months ago seems right) and have since upgraded to a powerBIpro. But from what I can see online, if it is an account access issue it would prompt a new sign in.

Any ideas about what has gone so disastrously wrong?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
For anyone who has this problem it does appear to be related to that free account. Even though it had lapsed it was still still ticked on my account. When we unticked it (and waited a day) I could make new connections. I think the connection via GetData is looking at the first account it finds for the login, not the first active account.
