Custom Formatting is driven by the format code (E.G. #,##0, etc). When I look in the format dialog box I don't see a code for "General" - it just says general. I'm curious, what would be the custom code for General - does anyone know?

I tried to google it but couldn't find anything specific to the code for General formatting. Maybe I'm not using the right words or phrases to find the answer (I typically have this problem when I'm trying to find an answer to a question).

thank you for your help

Michael

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
It is the word General :ROFLMAO: try formatting it as another custom format then select the cell and type General in the Type box.

I don't know why you would want to do it in the custom format though.
