Gantt chart including additional symbols

A colleague at work has asked whether you can create a Gantt chart consisting of simple coloured bars corresponding to the start and finish dates in columns a through to f
Columns a and b would contain the start and finish of phase 1 , cols c and d would show start and finish for phase 2 and cols e and f , phase 3. Each row would consist of 3 separate colour bars to represent the 3 groups of start and finish dates in columns a to f.
The difficult bit is that they also want to include diamonds icons which flag up specific dates (these dates would be in column g. These dates would generally occur at some point in the middle of the dates in columns a to f so the diamond would need to sit on top of the bars

Any ideas on the best approach. I'm currently travelling and using the phone so apologies for the format etc
