Good morning,

I have no idea where to even start. I have attempted X/VLOOKUP. Although with no success (probably using it incorrectly).

I am extracting bank statement data from a pdf into excel sheet (using Get Data). Each transaction is listed uniquely. There are however keywords I am looking for. e.g.: "POS Purchase Hogshead Rock Cott" / "POS Purchase Netflix.Com".

Keyword: "Hogshead" and return in a cell Hogshead without all the other text and/or numbers that may displayed in the description, keyword: "Netflix" and return Netflix only, etc. etc.

If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
Do you mean like this (array formula, entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter instead of Enter, then copied down):

Hi Glenn,

I have given it some thought, to better explain it. Since I did not do a great job first time round. I am looking for partial matches.

Example 1:
A1: Discovery (Lookup Value)
B1: "Magband Debiet Disc Prem M3948659 -4857393948" (Partial match - "Disc")
C1: Discovery Account (Return).

Example 2:
A2: Oneplan
B2: Debicheck Oneplan A49384
C2: Oneplan Medical

Not sure if I am using xlookup incorrectly? Or there might be an alternative?
