Populated in Coloumn A is a alphabetical list against which in Coloumn B is a date (The alphabetical Letter may have muliple dates - one per line). In Col C1 and C2 are two entry field asking you to select a Alphabetical Charactor (using validate function).

I need in Coloumn D1 and D2 to look at Column C and compare against Column A and then extract the line where the date is the largest showing the date.

I have found MAX function but and unable to filter per letter as Vlookup doen't seem to work where there are more than one outcome.

Thanks hope that make sence

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
Use an array formula, like this ...

=MAX(IF($A$1:$A$20=$C$1,$B$1:$B$20))

and enter it using Ctrl-Shift-Enter instead of Enter, in order to make it an array formula.
