Running Office Home and Student 2016

I have a spreadsheet in which months ago I locked (froze?) the top few rows so they'd stay visible as I scrolled down. Now I'd like to add some rows to that and I can find no way to do this.

The Freeze Pane icon is grayed out.

The workbook is NOT protected best I can tell.

I am in "Normal" view. If I click "Page Layout" I get a warning that says if I continue the panes on the sheet will be unfrozen. I "continue" (actually, I click "OK" since there is no "continue") , but nothing happens. So much for that warning.

How do I unfreeze?

Thanks
Mike

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Usually, the Freeze Pane button is only disabled when either the spreadsheet is protected or a cell is in edit mode.

Maybe you could try pasting a copy of that data into a new tab and see if problem persists.

I was trying to avoid that (column widths all get lost) but in the spirit of progress, I did as you said (Actually I created a new workbook and pasted everything in)

It worked. Unsatisfying but effective.

Thanks!

When you select the entire spreadsheet by clicking/tapping the left corner right above and left from cell A1, you copy column widths and row heights altogether.

Anyway, you're welcome. I'm glad it worked.
