Good day,

If i have a value 0,366 in cell A1 and i format it as a fracture with 3 positions i will get 42/125

so far so good.

But now i want to split this value (42/125) in two different colums, so i want to see 42 in column B and 125 in Column C

I just can't get it....

I hope anybody can help me out? I still have no possibility to upload an example file, but i think in this case my question is clear (hopefully)

Thanks in advance,
Edwin

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Fractions not fractures

=LEFT(A1,FIND("/",A1)-1)
and
=RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-(FIND("/",A1)))

You can't upload files on this site.
You have to upload them to an online storage site and place a link to them here.

Not sure this will work as the value in the cell is still the decimal so left and right will pick up the incorrect values. Am having a think now

Well, I'm Dutch and i'm really trying to do my best typing, so ....

But the formula doesn't work; the value in cell A1 is 0,336 and with the cellformatting i see a fraction in my screen.
When i then use the formula you suggested it is still trying to work with the value 0,336..... as far as i can see.

Could you please have a look at it again? thanks!

If you put in cell A2 (say) = Text(A1,"???/???") this will give you the format you are looking for. Then Special -K99 formula will work (change his A1 to A2)

Thank you Special-K99 and Stiuart_W !

Works perfectly now!

I don't see a "Solved" button, so i guess this post will be archived in a few days (?)

Glad we could help

I'm not sure when threads are archived but the "last" one had a post at the end of July 1015. So a couple of months before they "go" somewhere
