Hello, i am using the following formula in excel 2007

=IF($O$3="HOME",IF(INDEX(AC5:DV5,MATCH($R$4,$AB$3:$DU$3,0))="","",IF(INDEX(AC5:DV5,MATCH($R$4,$AC$3:$DV$3,0))="L","",INDEX(AC5:DV5,MATCH($R$4,$AB$3:$DU$3,0)))),"")

when this formula returns "" blank and i copy and use paste special, values only, another formula is reading the "" blanks as >0, Why? and what can i do to stop this?

i'm not sure how to do that as it is over 3 work sheets
the sumproduct formula does count the 0's as well if i add one in so i'm sure this will work if modified

Both

=COUNTIF(Scores!$B$4:$B$120,">=0")

=SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(Scores!$B$4:$B$120),--(Scores!$B$4:$B$120>=0))

include 0's in the count, right? Is that not your intent?

Excel Facts

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
yes, i have tried to make them work also including the second condition, C7 and over the larger range but it returns a much higher result

I'm going to venture the following...

Control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=SUM(IF(Scores!$A$4:$R$120=C7,IF(ISNUMBER(Scores!$B$4:$S$120),IF(Scores!$B$4:$S$120>=0,1))))

Does this satisfy?

i have found the problem, the formula i'm sure works but where i have some blank cells they are formulas returning blank cells, these are being counted as 0's and giving me a bigger count, these formulas will later give numbers from 0 to 9, i think thats where i was trying to use (N) at the start, any ideas

Did you try the last "array" formula I posted?

Example:

The yellow colored cells all have a formula blank, created with ="". The blue cell is just empty.

A1: fad (a criteron of interest)

B1, control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=SUM(IF(A4:C9=A1,IF(ISNUMBER(B4:D9),IF(B4:D9>=0,1))))

This returns 2 as it should, counting records with fad and a number >= 0.
