Hello all.
I have a shared workbook saved on a network drive at my job. One of my ten columns contains a formula (the very uncomplicated WORKDAY formula.) After I fill new cells in the column with the formula and hit Save, I receive a Microsoft error message stating that Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I figured out that if I un-share the workbook, fill the formula in the cells I need it to be in, save, then re-share the file, Excel does not encounter a problem when I try saving the shared workbook. However, when I am in the Shared workbook and want to delete any of the cells that contain the formula, I get the same error about Excel encountering a problem and needing to close when I attempt to Save.
I found a listing of functions that cannot be performed in a shared workbook, and using a simple formula is not one of the functions listed. Formulas are so common I cannot see how it is impossible to use them in a shared workbook. Another co-worker who has access to this workbook had the same issues, so I don't think it could just be my version of Excel that is having problems, and the IT department has never seen this issue before.
Any guidance on this topic will be appreciated. It's not a total nightmare to change the file from shared to un-shared to fill in the formula, but it's nerve racking that there is no explanation for why this error is occurring.
