Hello everybody,

Sometimes when I get a spreadsheet that was created by someone else I see formulas such as
Code:
=+A1*A2
.

Does the plus sign have any meaning whatsoever? When I see this, I always feel tempted to hit Ctrl+A and replace the string =+ by =...

Thanks in advance for your insight,

Daniel

Feel free to get rid of that leading plus sign.

Could be from those who worked in Lotus 1-2-3 where you started a formula with a plus sign generally.

Some use the plus sign to start a formula since you don't have to shift to get the equal sign.

equals sign

At least in my home country, Germany, it does. I believe also in other European countries (Italy I'm sure of) the equals sign requires the shift key.

Anyway, thanks!
