Formula to populate following cells based on previous cells

Hello, I am trying to figure out a formula that will help me populate cells based on the sample instance below. I've tried different IF statements but can't seems to get it to work right. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Use 2 columns A and B
With names and blanks in column B do the following

in B1
=A1
in B2
=IF(A2="",B1,A2)
and copy down column B
