Hi

Cell A2 contains the following text:

="7083176237106797"

I would like a formula that will drop the first 2 digits (=") and also the last (")

Many thanks

Craig

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
If they are all 16 digits long
=MID(A1,3,13)

Otherwise
=MID(A1,3,LEN(A1)-3)

I might have misinterpreted your question. Perhaps you meant drop the first 2 and last "characters" rather than "digits". If that is the case, my first formula should have been
=MID(A1,3,16)

Second formula would be unchanged.
