Hello,

Which is the correct way/formula to convert the currency cost into a formula.
For example: $39.21 shows as 3921% - May I know which formula I should use to get the percentage in a correct way. These are the sub-totals cost I have and I would like to show them in a percentage form.

Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
In order to do a percentage of something, you need two values (the amount you want the percentage from, and the total amount).
So, if you wanted the percentage of the value in cell A10 and the total is in cell A99, then the formula would look like:
=A10/A99
and you would just format that cell as a percentage.

Thank you prompt response and help. So it will look like 39.21 is my sub-total and the total is 6,268.32 and the formula will be 39.21/6268.21 = 0.63 which I will convert it % format and final result will be 0.63 % right?

If I am converting just the number 39.21 by using custom format it gives me 39.21% but if I have a three or four digit number like 900 it makes it 900% does this makes sense to you? Thank you in advance.

What custom format are you using, exactly?
What does it show in those cells if you change the format to General?
