Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
OK so if the formula is always the same i.e. The current quarter divided the previous quarter then I would do the following.

First name the following ranges E5:G5 Quarter1, H5:J5 Quarter2, K5:M5 Quarter3 and N5:P5 Quarter4

in Cell A1 insert the following formula
Code:
=IF(OR(A3=E1,A3=F1,A3=G1),E2,IF(OR(A3=H1,A3=I1,A3=J1),H2,IF(OR(A3=K1,A3=L1,A3=M1),K2,N2)))

Then in Cell A5 insert the following formula
Code:
=IF(A1=E2,SUM(Quarter1),IF(A1=H2,SUM(Quarter2)/SUM(Quarter1),IF(A1=K2,SUM(Quarter3)/SUM(Quarter2),SUM(Quarter4)/SUM(Quarter3))))
