I have a sheet that has a date column and a category and would like to add the totals for all the lines with the same category within a specified date range together. I'm using this below, but it's including items outside of this date range

IF(AND('Check Register-Sep2017'!C:C,9/1/17,9/30/17),SUMIFS('Check Register-Sep2017'!H:H,'Check Register-Sep2017'!F:F,"Red"),0)

Can anyone please help?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Within the nested AND statement, you have to phrase the conditions as equations. This is different than the SUMIMF syntax.
Try this:
=IF(AND('Check Register-Sep2017'!C1>9/1/17,'Check Register-Sep2017'!C1<9/30/17),SUMIFS('Check Register-Sep2017'!H:H,'Check Register-Sep2017'!F:F,"Red"),0)

Maybe,

=IF(AND('Check Register-Sep2017'!C1>=0+"9/1/17",'Check Register-Sep2017'!C1<=0+"9/30/17"),SUMIFS('Check Register-Sep2017'!H:H,'Check Register-Sep2017'!F:F,"Red"),0)

Thank you I tried both suggestions but neither worked :(

Try:

=SUMIFS('Check Register-Sep2017'!H:H,'Check Register-Sep2017'!F:F,"Red",'Check Register-Sep2017'!C:C,">=9/1/17",'Check Register-Sep2017'!C:C,"<=9/30/17")
